Fighting Hunger, Building Hope

At CRS, our mission is clear: to alleviate hunger and improve the quality of life for families and individuals in need. Join us in our commitment to creating a stronger, more resilient community.

Founded in 2000, Community Resource Services (CRS) is a tax-exempt not-for-profit organization dedicated to addressing food insecurity and providing essential services to residents of Lunenburg County, Nottoway County, and neighboring areas. Our mission is to alleviate hunger and improve the quality of life for families and individuals through a network of comprehensive programs and services. At CRS, we believe that access to nutritious food is a fundamental human right, and we are committed to ensuring that all members of our community have the resources they need to thrive.

For over two decades, CRS has been a steadfast advocate for those facing food insecurity, providing a range of programs to meet the diverse needs of our community. Through initiatives such as The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), we offer vital food assistance to income-eligible individuals and families, ensuring they have access to nutritious staples and fresh produce. Additionally, our Direct Store Pickup Program enables us to collect surplus food donations from local retailers, reducing waste and expanding our capacity to serve those in need.

Beyond food assistance, CRS is committed to holistic community support. Our Community Services initiative partners with local organizations to provide essential services such as vaccinations and community service opportunities, fostering health and well-being throughout the community. Furthermore, our Soup Kitchen will offer not only nourishing meals but also a platform for education and empowerment, with invited speakers sharing valuable insights and resources.

As we look to the future, CRS is dedicated to evolving our services to better meet the changing needs of our community. Through initiatives like the Client's Choice project, we are working to enhance access to fresh, healthy, and affordable food options, empowering individuals to make choices that support their nutritional well-being with dignity and respect.

We invite you to join us in our mission to combat hunger and build a stronger, more resilient community. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
